Background
The Cyprus Association for children with cancer and related diseases “One Dream One Wish” was founded in November 1997 by a group of parents and friends of children suffering from cancer, leukaemia and other haematological diseases.
All members of the Board of Directors, members and friends of the Association offer their services voluntarily to achieve its objectives.
The main lines of activities of the Association are three: Fulfilling the wishes of children with cancer, financial support for their families and providing psychological support to both the children and their families.
It is only natural that parents attach great importance to the treatment of their children. However, in many cases, due to expensive treatments abroad and the parents’ absence from work, the family is in an impossible financial condition to fulfil a major wish of the child.
Mission and Purpose
The mission of the “One Dream One Wish” Association is to fill this gap. To give motivation for life to these children. The fulfillment of wishes, such as the acquisition of a computer, a trip to Eurodisney in Paris, a pilgrimage trip, furnishing a bedroom, buying a musical instrument and many more, is part of the psychological support for children suffering from various forms of cancer, which is very much needed for their treatment.
Research has shown that children who live happily and equally in society, in a healthy and nice environment, are up to 20% more likely to be cured.
